A Tangled Wedding

We’ve been filming weddings since 2002, and last year, a dream finally came true: film a wedding in Disney World! Yes, Niels and I are Disney fans. We were both lucky enough to celebrate our 30th birthdays at Disney World and fell in love with the place. The complete escape from reality, no cares in the world, just happiness, pure unadulterated happiness. So we were over the moon when Melanie and Aaron asked to film their fairytale wedding there.

We arrived a few days early, with the aim of getting some amazing timelapse and establishing shots, as well as spend some time in the parks having fun. Unfortunately, the long plane ride left me with a bug and I spent most of time in our hotel room with a cold and a sore throat feeling sorry for myself and hoping I’d feel better by the time of the wedding. And I did, well, not quite as healthy as I’d like, but armed with a serious dose of painkillers I was able to make it.

The day started off for me at the Grand Floridian hotel where Melanie was getting all beautiful, while Niels set off to the Contemporary Resort to film the men struggling to get their ties on. A short but sweet ceremony took place at the Wedding Pavilion, overlooking the Magic Kingdom. After the ceremony, a short carriage ride took us to the monorail, any Disney World fan knows that a day there wouldn’t be complete without a trip on the monorail! The reception took place at the Contemporary Resort, where the ballroom was transformed into a Tangled themed dreamscape. Mickey and Minnie showed up to help cut the cake and dance the night away, and even Rapunzel and Flynn made a surprise appearance. The perfect day ended with the dessert party and a magnificent view of the Wishes fireworks. We were so happy to have been part of Melanie and Aaron’s day.

Now, is anybody else planning a wedding at Disney World? Please contact us!!!

Valentine’s Day Promotions

I’m sure the Valentine’s Day cards will have hit the shops somewhere in December, but as we’re about to hit February, the day is coming close. Niels and I love Valentine’s! Typically we spend the day in the kitchen cooking up some special treats to enjoy later that night. As it is the only relevant ‘festive day’ for our line of work, we’d like to do something special for any bride’s-to-be out there. Starting Monday we’ll offer a 5% discount on our Same Day Edit packages and a 10% discount on all our main wedding films. There’s no catch, as long as we are still available for your day, just make sure to book us by the 15th of February to receive the discount.

It’s been a while since I shared a clip on the blog, so I’ll make up for that today. The clip I’m sharing is the trailer to a wedding that is very special to us. Annie and Paul are an amazing couple and very close friends of ours. We were thrilled to be there for their wedding day and I can honestly say this is the first wedding were both Niels and I suffered from a moment of blurry vision… Yes, we both cried at this wedding, but then again, so did every single guest at this wedding! It is a great joy to watch 2 people who you hold so dear get married and declare their love to each other, especially when the vows truly are their very own words and hold so much meaning. I hope you’ll enjoy a glimpse into their day.

Sashini & Kushan: a wedding day preview

It was clear from the start that Sashini and Kushan’s wedding would be one amazing day. From the gorgeous setting of Wentworth Club, the civil and Sri Lankan Ceremony, the dancers, the gorgeous and colourful outfits: it promised to be a visual feast. And indeed it was!

It wouldn’t be a wedding day without the occasional bit of bridal panics and our couple got those out of the way during the getting ready: someone forgot a few of the bridemaids’ dresses at home, oops. A beautiful civil ceremony, followed by a first reception, a colourful Sri Lankan ceremony followed by a second reception, an amazing wedding breakfast,… this couple was definitely maximising their wedding day. All of this took place in the wonderful great hall of Wentworth club and although I’ve always held their staff in the highest esteem, they still managed to exceed my expectations! They completely turned this room about from one ceremony to the next and then once more for the wedding breakfast at full capacity. All of this in record time and with an amazing eye for detail. And on top of all that, they surprised me with a lovely dessert with a candle along with a few singing waiters to wish me a happy birthday!  As always the room was beautifully lit up by the talented FireBird Events team.

We had the pleasure of working alongside one of our favourite photographer couples: David and Ann Ward. With a tight schedule, a huge guest list, 2 ceremonies and the always changeable English weather, David and Ann kept their cool and shot some amazing photographs. It’s always great to feel you’re hanging out with some friends rather than feel like you’re working! And I also must mention the wonderful cake by Sugar Creations, a masterpiece, and with exquisite attention to detail!

I’ll keep you no longer and let you enjoy some of this visual feast yourself!

Sneak Peek of Erica and Matt’s wedding

Wedding sneak peek time! And it’s Erica and Matt wedding we’re giving you little glimpse of today.

Walton Hall in Warwickshire was the setting, a perfect summer’s day and the sweetest couple, what more can you wish for? This was a small intimate wedding, but high on emotion. While Matt may be English, he lives in the USA and this is where he met Erica. Well, technically, they met in cyberspace, via… Many of their family and friends had travelled from the US and beyond to be with them on their wedding day which made it all the more special. The video was a surprise Erica had planned for Matt, but he already seemed to have an inkling that Erica might just have planned this. Officially, the first Matt knew about us being there was when Niels showed up at his door.

And with the excellent planning skills of Isobel Lamplough of Isobel Weddings and the brilliant Allister Freeman as photographer, we just had a breeze of a day.

Katie & Mark: A teaser from Wakehurst Place

On the last Saturday of July, we had the pleasure of filming the wedding of Katie and Mark at Wakehurst Place in Sussex. They could not have chosen a better day, for the first time in July we could actully say it was a gorgeous summer day! Both the house and the gardens at Wakehurst Place made for a gorgeous setting and Katie, the coordinator, made sure their wedding day was just perfect. Katie and Mark had chosen to have a humanist wedding ceremony, which was a pleasure to attend and film. Vivienne Donnithorne, the celebrant, had designed the ceremony together with Katie and Mark. The result was a truly personal and touching ceremony during which you really got to know the couple.

During the day we worked alongside Martin Briggs, who was a true pleasure to work with. He even noticed our gorgeous collection of vintage lenses. His quirky sense of humour meant we had a lot fun in the down time as well. Our couple was quite adventurous which resulted in a couple of great and unusual shots. Sylvia especially loved the purple Converse shoes that Katie brought along for the evening party.

Here’s a little taster of the day:

Lucie and Matt’s Wedding Film Trailer

A week ago we were filming a wedding in Cornwall, last weekend we were at one in Hampshire, the weekend coming up we’ll be in Scotland… we are spending a whole lot of time on the roads these days! Yet, I somehow still managed to find the time to put together a trailer yesterday for last Saturday’s wedding. To be clear, that’s the one in Hampshire, more specifically Lucie and Matt’s wedding at Avington Park near Winchester.

We spent the day working with Rob and Darren from ShootingHip, yes, you should know by now that those are pretty much our favourite photographers, so if anyone has booked us and still looking for a photographer, please consider ShootingHip! And the other way around works too, if you booked Rob as your photographer, consider getting us to film your wedding. We’re a great team!

Anyway, back to Lucie and Matt. Wedding planner on this occasion: the groom! And what a job he did! Perfectly planned, even though Lucie was slightly fashionably late for the ceremony, the day ran like clockwork. And Avington Park, well, we worked here last year at Cathy and Craig’s wedding, and it was just as stunning as we remembered. Beautiful venue and as ever very friendly staff! In the evening, there was the fabulous Jamtastic band to set the right party mood for the evening.

So check out the trailer to this wedding and afterwards, make sure you also check out Rob’s photos of Lucie and Matt’s wedding on the ShootingHip blog!

The Wedding of Clare and Matthew

Just over a week ago, we had the pleasure of working together with the planners of Paige Events at Clare and Matthew’s wedding. After their Catholic ceremony, a vintage Volkswagen campervan transported them to their next location. They had chosen the gorgeous setting of Walton Hall in Wellesbourne as the backdrop for their reception. Their international guest list was lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful English summer’s day in these stunning surroundings. Paige events didn’t just dress the room of the wedding breakfast, but also tranformed the room of the evening celebrations with an Arabic theme.
I hope you will enjoy the trailer:

On a separate note, I’m sure many of you have heard Sylvia will be speaking at the WEVA expo this year. After receiving a CEA Award for one of our Short-Form weddings, it seemed the perfect subject to talk about. Under the title ‘Anatomy of a Short Form’, Sylvia will talk about our approach to this format, which we introduced to our market a few years ago. As a way to promote the seminar, Sylvia put a little clip together highlighting our ‘Belgian heritage’ and included some rarely seen footage of the both of us.

Carole and Neil’s Wedding Film Trailer

Spring is in the air, actually after this last weekend, I think summer is in the air. So let me take you back to this winter with Carole and Neil’s wedding film trailer. Filmed just before Christmas at Hazlewood castle in North Yorkshire.

And some other news for fellow videographers out there now. On May 15th, we are organising a super one day training workshop which will take place in Sheffield. We will cover shooting and editing techniques, marketing and sales and have shoot out sessions with our “bride for the day”. For more details visit our training website.

Double Feature and a Bonus

So I haven’t exactly been updating on a regular basis lately, apologies. To make up for the lack of blog posts over the past few weeks, there will be a double feature and a few bonus materials.

So first up, we have a trailer to the wedding video of Bisola and Temitope who tied the knot in Bristol this summer. I won’t say too much about their wedding this time (more about them later), but I would just like to say that their wedding was one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever been too. They were such a genuinely friendly and lovely couple and their enthusiasm was just contagious, it was impossible not to enjoy yourself that day.

Next up, the highlights to Jane and Richard’s wedding at St Augustine’s Priory near Ashford in Kent. I’ve already told you all about them back in August when I shared their trailer. Jane and Richard pretty much trusted us to do whatever we thought would be best for their video and based on one of Jane’s recent Facebook updates, that worked out just fine. “To all friends and family that attended it will soon be available to view online! Its not your usual trad wedding vid,its a lil bit funked up & bloody great if I say so myself! …..Sylvia & Niels of Ever After ur the ‘nuts ‘ guys! Thanks sooooo much! X”

And now on to the bonus material. Anyone who knows us, knows that we are big fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and pretty much anything made by Joss Whedon). Earlier this year, I happened to come across a website advertising a fan convention for anything Joss Whedon related for the weekend of Halloween. Seemed like a great, yet incredibly geeky, idea. So this past weekend we were in London attending HalloWhedon! There were several stars of the shows, including James Marsters and Nicholas Brendon. There were signings, talks with the stars, auctioning of memorabilia and even a dinner with James Marsters (which went for £900!!!). On Saturday evening there was a big Halloween ball, best one we’ve ever been too, so many people in fabulous costumes. We had a blast the whole weekend!

Jane & Richard’s Wedding Trailer

Jane and Richard’s wedding took place on a beautiful summer’s day back in July at St Augustine’s Priory near Ashford in Kent. The wedding was lovingly themed in a vintage style, with birdcages, shades of pink, plenty of flowers and Jane’s dress was positively dreamy. The fabulous string quartet Stringendo played during the ceremony and reception (they have some really great arrangements, really enjoyed their music) and a witty French magician provided some light entertainment, while a guitar player set the right mood during the wedding breakfast. Then in the evening, they danced the night away to the music of the band Coast and the guests were all given Chinese wishing lanterns which looked enchanting as they floated away in the night’s sky. And all the while we had a great time working together with their photographer, Nikos (you can see Jane and Richard’s photos here) and their toastmaster Graham Beacom.
The newlyweds then took off for a very relaxing honeymoon in the Maldives, having seen their photographs, it looked AMAZING!

Anyway, without further ado, here is the trailer to their wedding film.

In a few days time, we will be taking a few weeks off. First of all to relax a bit after a busy summer of filming plenty of weddings, but also to go to the biggest videographer’s convention in the world in Orlando. We’re very much looking forward to learning plenty of new things and meeting up with some old friends. But don’t worry, we’ll keep you up to date on the blog and through Twitter!
